George lives in Maryville, IL. He has many interests outside of Electrical Engineering. He is an avid Blues and Cardinal fan and enjoys the music of St. Louis’ favorite cover bands Metal Studz, Dr. Zhivegas and Joe Dirt. He is an avid fisherman, enjoys traveling, and is a great fan of microbrewed beers. While at home, he enjoys cooking, gardening, movies (AMC, Fox, TCM) and caring for tropical fish.

Dr. Engel is a native of the Saint Louis area. He was born in East St. Louis, IL and was raised in South County. He graduated from Vianney High School in Kirkwood, MO. He then received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Saint Louis University where he majored in Mathematics and Physics. His Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctorate of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering were all earned at Washington University in Saint Louis. His doctoral adviser was Dr. Robert Morley.
