Posting a sign-up sheet on their door one week before advisement.
Appointments are made in 10 minute intervals.
If you know that you have a particuarly difficult advisement problem,
you should probably sign up for 20 minutes rather than try to fit it
into 10 minutes and make everyone else late.
It is your responsibility to sign-up for an appointment and honor that
appointment.
If you can't make your appointment, call or leave a message as soon
as possible to minimize aggravation.
If you miss your appointment, you may not get the classes you need and
your adviser may be unfriendly. Besides, it doesn't reflect well on you.
Have a good idea what classes you want or need to take.
You have a much better idea of what kind of class times you like to have
than your adviser does.
Verify that your class choices don't have any time conflicts.
The printed class schedules may be inaccurate since they are printed
up to one year in advance. When determining your schedule,
verify the times and availability with the SIUE Class Schedule web
page at
http://www.register.siue.edu/
Show up for your appointment with as much of your CRF (Course Request
Form) filled out as possible. A sample CRF is shown below.
A CRF is available in the Dean's Office area or from the ECE
Secretary.
After you and your adviser agree on your schedule take your CRF to the ECE Secretary.
Any changes you make to your schedule will require you to use an Add/Drop form, not another CRF.
An Add/Drop form is also available in the Dean's Office area or from the ECE
Secretary. A sample Add/Drop form is shown below.
Your adviser's signature is required to Add any classes.
No signatures are required to Drop a class during the first ten
weeks of the term (Summer classes are different!).
See the back of the Add/Drop form for more details.
